Bass fishing has a fascinating history. It began in the late 18th century and continues to advance today.

It was probably practiced in search for food among people in the southern United States. Since then it has started gaining numerous audiences of all ages and nations. Today, countries like Australia, Cuba, South Africa, USA and most of Europe participate in this type of event.

Timelines

• The year 1768 or 1770 represents the birth of sport fishing bass. Onesimus Ustonson presented his first multiplying reels to the gurus and lovers of fishing. Later became bait caster.

Shimano Citica® Left Hand Baitcasting Reel

There are some basic methods that are effective in catching catfish. Note that specific methods are applied to specific types of waters. This is because techniques and bait mixtures are formulated for specific targets.

The following methods are simple, yet proven successful when used:

1) Method of rigging – Depending on the bait used, loop the bait holder or the treble hook from a line at a preferred distance to the end. Bait movement is not suggested, therefore, a weight should be used to allow the platform to be steady. A good distance is about 18″ to 24″.

Like the first method, using for bait Slipweight to stablizie the bait also works well. The weight does not matter how long as it can slide around on the line. The fish wont’s feel the weight and it will be late until they realize that the bait is fake.

In fishing, it’s very important to the success of a angler to start with the right equipment. You can acquire or possess the best stuff in the world, but when brought together and put into use, it can be a very decided disadvantage.

To protect against this, it is important that the individual pieces compliment one another. Mismatched equipment has caused more difficulties and failures for beginners than any other factor.

Fishing rod

To fish with a good rod is to really enjoy fishing. It is much easier to learn with a good rod than with one of lesser quality. The leader is also a very important consideration, and unless that is selected with care and thought relative to the size of the line, the caster will have problems in getting it to extend straight out from the line when casting.

Its main function is to serve as an invisible connection between the lure and line.

The flies and fishing lures

Flies can vary in size from the smallest used, which could be number 18 or 20 to flies tied on number-2 hooks or larger. The heavier flies or lures, the more wind is needed. It also requires the use of heavier equipment or more power from the caster during the back cast and forward cast.

Reels

The reel may be automatic or single action, but in any case, should be large enough to maintain the usual 30 yards of fishing line without movement on the spool.
