The reel itself is very light and has a very smooth balanced retrieve. I put it on a 6'6" Ugly Stick medium rod and so far it's a great combo. This combo can toss a 1/8oz lure into the next county and still have enough backbone to reel in large fish. I also filled the reel with 10lb Berkley Trilene XL Smooth casting line.
